1) Strong  – At double the thickness of a standard indoor tile our external porcelain is very strong and hard-wearing.

2) Stain Resistant –  out door tiles are made from fully vitrified porcelain which is non-porous and therefore resistant to staining.

3) Calibrated & Rectified  – Most of our tiles are rectified to give them straight and even edges, which allows you to create narrow grout joints for a neat and modern look. The tiles are also calibrated for even thickness which makes installation easier.

4) Resistant To Moss & Mould – Some materials can become slippery outdoors as a layer of moss or mould covers the surface – particularly over the winter. Out external porcelain is resistant to moss, mould and algae growth so will be easier to keep clean and clear.

5) Anti-Slip – All external tiles have an enhanced slip resistant surface, with a rating of R11. They can be used on patios, balconies, terraces, steps, pathways and even around swimming pools.

6) Scratch Resistant – The strong material makes the tiles much more scratch resistant than other materials like natural stone or concrete.

7) High Load-Bearing Strength – Patios often need to withstand heavy foot traffic and furniture, and our outdoor porcelain can cope with this.

8) Can Be Cut & Profiled – Tiles can be cut to fit steps, up-stands or shaped patios and a range of profiling options are available including bull-nosing and grooves.

9) Wide Array of Designs – External porcelain tiles are available in a huge range of sizes, colours and styles including wood, stone and concrete effect – and they are much easier to clean and maintain than the original materials.

10) Frost Proof – The impermeable material means that the tiles have a very low absorption rate which makes them 100% frost proof.

How to install outdoor tiles?

Proper installation is crucial for ensuring the longevity and functionality of your outdoor tiles. While it’s recommended to hire a professional for the installation, here’s an overview of the general installation process for your outdoor tiles

Surface Preparation – Concrete Substrate

Ensure that your concrete base has been left to cure for at least 6 weeks before installing tiles. Using a soft bristle brush, remove any dust or construction material. A cement based tile adhesive is recommended with porcelain tiles so you may need to check if your substrate requires sealing prior to fitting. We recommend ProFlex SP Wall & Floor Tile Adhesive and & ProFlex S2 Adhesives. Porcelain tiles must be solidly bedded using a suitable notched trowel to apply the adhesive onto the substrate, spreading only enough adhesive that remains workable. Take the flat side of the trowel and smooth over the adhesive to produce a uniform, ridge-free bed. We also recommend ‘back buttering’ each tile so you achieve a strong bond with the whole tile.

Layout Planning

Plan the layout of the tiles before starting the installation. This will help ensure a balanced and visually pleasing design. Consider factors such as the size and shape of the tiles, the direction of the pattern, and any specific design elements you want to incorporate.Place the tile into position using a corner as a starting point, e.g.next to a wall or house. Please consider the placement of drainage channels to move excess water from the porcelain paving. Press into place and use a rubber mallet to secure and adjust the level. Continue to lay tiles in this way leaving a 3-6mm joint. Use a bucket and sponge to clean up any slurry or adhesive as you go.

Grout

Once the tiles are in place, allow the adhesive / mortar to set according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If using standard grout, apply tile adhesive between the tiles using a grout float or a trowel. Remove any excess grout with a damp sponge or dependent on the material; taking care not to disturb the tiles. Allow the grout to dry completely.Or alternatlively for 20cm porcelain slabs you can use a brush-in external tile jointing solution.

How to Clean and Maintain Outdoor Tiles

Proper maintenance is essential for preserving the beauty and functionality of your outdoor tiles. Here are some tips to help you keep your outdoor tiles in excellent condition:

1) Regular Cleaning

Sweep or use a leaf blower to remove loose dirt, leaves, and debris from the surface of the tiles. This will prevent dirt from accumulating and potentially staining the tiles. For a deeper clean, you can use a mild detergent mixed with water and a soft bristle brush to scrub the tiles gently.

2) Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on your external tiles, as they can damage the surface or cause discolouration. Stick to mild detergents or natural cleaning solutions to maintain the integrity of the tiles.

3) Sealing

Some outdoor tiles, such as natural stone tiles, may require periodic sealing to protect them from staining or weathering. Be sure to check which sealer is most suitable for your product and for external use.

4) Preventative Measures

Take preventive measures to protect your external tiles from damage. Use furniture pads or leg caps to prevent scratches or marks caused by moving furniture. Place doormats or rugs in high-traffic areas to minimise the dirt and debris that can accumulate on the tiles.
